Deposit-induced chlorine corrosion was studied under well-controlled laboratory conditions simulating the conditions in straw-fired boilers and boilers cofiring coal and straw. This was done by exposing pieces of superheater tube (TP 347H FG) covered with synthetic deposits of known Cl content to gas mixtures simulating straw-firing and cofiring of coal and straw at 560 °C (1040 °F) for 3

Sep 01 2018 · Increasing pressure on the power industry to reduce carbon emissions has led to increased research into the use of biomass feedstocks. This work investigates the effects of HCl and KCl key species influencing biomass boiler corrosion on a laser clad coating of the FeCrAl alloy Kanthal APMT. In-Situ SEM exposure of the coating at 450 oC for 1 h was performed to investigate the initial

Catalytic conversion of CO 2 to produce fuels and chemicals is attractive in prospect because it provides an alternative to fossil feedstocks and the benefit of converting and cycling the greenhouse gas CO 2 on a large scale. In today s technology CO 2 is converted into hydrocarbon fuels in Fischer–Tropsch synthesis via the water gas shift reaction but processes for direct conversion of CO

This study investigated the effects of HCl and KCl on a laser-clad FeCrAl coating at 450 °C in an in-situ ESEM followed by a furnace exposure. In all in-situ TEM cross-sections three major phases were identified an iron rich oxide an iron-chromium mixed oxide and an aluminium enriched layer. HCl allowed chlorine based corrosion to occur which suggests interaction from its gas phase.
